The Brantford Co-operative had a serious heating and cooling problem: They were using an old, outdated electric baseboard in their offices and community centre that could not keep these spaces comfortable throughout the year. It got to the point where staff needed coats and boots to stay warm in the winter and lost days of work due to the heat in the summer. There was clearly a need to change.

The Challenge

Not only was Brantford’s electric baseboard system creating uncomfortable conditions, it was also inefficient and led to rising hydro bills. Replacing the system was a challenge for the members because the Co-op could not afford to purchase entirely new equipment.

The Reliance Solution

After learning about the Co-op’s heating and cooling problems, a Reliance representative recommended that they rent a ductless HVAC system to replace their baseboard system. This new arrangement made it possible for Co-op members to benefit from cost savings as well as improved heating and cooling throughout the year.

The Result

Reliance installed a new ductless HVAC system and the members immediately felt the benefits — the rooms were cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The Co-op was also able to lower their hydro bills by half in the first year thanks to their new technology.
